Bangkok Art Auction: THE EXTRAORDINAIRE
The design for the company's event began with Mr. Sermkhun's preferred turquoise color. Which I will elaborate on to bring the "extra" out of the "ordinary" part of the painting. As a result, a repeated hand-scanned image of the highlight artworks was created to convey the concept's distinct nature while also supporting the actual pieces.
The auction raised more than 36 million baht in total.
For this time, the key visual design is tasked with the name “The Extraordinaire” and the color turqoise, which is unusual for an art auction event, but there are some new concepts to be played with.
The logo is designed by separating the words "EXTRA" and "ORDINAIRE," which may be taken as "making the ordinary more of itself," and the result is a logo that plays with variable fonts such as Degular Variable, which is more than simply an ordinary font in and of itself.
Aside from the logo, the typography includes variable fonts like Sigurd Variable (as well as comparable fonts like Priyati for Thai headlines). Another enhancement is that the book typeface, which previously had readability issues, has been toned down to basic book fonts such as TH Sarabun and Bembo standard, with much more positive feedback from the public.
The color selection is based on a monochromatic palette of the chosen turquoise, which is composed in a methodical way to provide depth as the artwork's background while avoiding clutter like in the Iconic Treasure.
The visual elements concept, which plays with accentuating the ordinary with itself, is the protagonist of this period. The procedure involves repeatedly reproducing the printed chosen highlight artwork photos until it has a bitmap effect, then scanning to be recolored and placed behind the artwork. Which amazing boosted the original artwork without interfering with the audience's view.
The execution is considerably more challenging due to its uniqueness, such as the pylon that is half colored with the sticker over the light surface, the unusual wall color that must be chosen from the TOA palette, or the screen on which the scanned element is adjusted in After Effect to have an LED effect while rotating.
